But for car companies, aluminum is a very good lightweight material in the long run, but it is more expensive than steel. Today, the average vehicle weighs nearly 4,000 pounds and is made of rubber, plastic, steel, aluminum, finishes and other materials. The major car companies have been working to reduce the weight of various parts of the vehicle, for which they have adopted various alternative materials.
